A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated magna cum laude from FSU in 2003 as a returning student. I spent my first year of teaching out of field teaching Language Arts 6-12. I sat for and passed the FDOE state exam for Language Arts 6-12. I have spent the last five years teaching social science education 8th grade American history. The current 2009-10 school year I am teaching 11th grade American history, government and economics (12th). I love to teach and love helping students become successful. My students have been successful with the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolutuion) annual writing contest for the past 3 years. I want to make a difference and love what I do.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style really depends on the person I am working with. People learn different ways. It is important to identify what works best for the person. For example, some people may learn through discussion, while others may need to see pictures or presentations of the subject matter. I like to identify how the person learns first through questions, or by testing them with a simple task first to identify the method which seems to work best for them. Once this has been identified, training can begin.
I have both a bachelors degree and masters degree in business administration/management. Both of these degrees have given me a high level of knowledge in many areas such as finance, accounting, math in general, writing, and presentations/projects. The school setting is the perfect enviroment for character education. The combination of teaching academics and attitude together can lead a student on a path to success in all areas of life. It is my hope that students leave my care with a desire to reach their potential and be better than their peers.
I hold a provisional Teaching Certification from the State of Michigan; I have begun the process of transferring it to the State of Florida. A Masters degree in Education is in my near future. Prior to moving to Florida I was a football and softball coach for close to 10 years while serving the school district as a long term substitute in several capacities including Elementary and Special Education assignments.
