However, I’m disheartened by what I’ve witnessed in Mississippi’s public schools: that many children are failing to read at grade level. They are often “left behind.” My approach to teaching is driven by my belief that all children can learn if given the cognitive stimulation coupled with a nurturing, learning environment. I know that children are eager to know, understand, and discern. I believe teachers should not disseminate facts; instead they should cultivate the desire for knowledge. Nearly everyone who meets me tell me I should be a teacher. I look forward to the day when I am able to teach my own children. Until that day comes, I would like to teach others.

I love to learn, and love passing that on to others. I am a patient personality, and I may present a problem to a student to evaluate where they are. From there, we can go either backwards or to more advanced work. Education is very important for myself and for my children, and I like to instill that learning takes you further in life than where someone may have not even dreamed. I am amazed at seeing cashiers who can't make simple change, or someone who can't calculate a small percentage in their head, such as 10% of a number.
