I love interacting with my students and finding out what drives them and what they feel hinders their success. I choose activities that make learning fun while making the information relevant and easy to understand. I also strive to build up a student's academic confidence. My comments on tutoring Hearing Impaired : basic/elementary level understanding of ASL American sign language

positive reinforcement. I enjoy organizational charts and calendars to keep schedules. I take a multisensory approach to learning. For students without severe disabilities this could include incorporating visuals and graphics to teach lessons
graduated in 2012 form SCSU in special education k-12 with a psychology minor. I worked in day care setting for 2 years and 5 years working with students with multiple disabilities including learning disabilities, deaf and blindness. I have basic understanding of ASL (aerican sign language) I also have experience with utilizing visual supports. I have some experience developing phonic lessons for beginning and struggling readers. My goal is to help your child achieve success. I explain real-life applications of the subject (i.e., metric system--repair of foreign cars.) I encourage questions and dialogue. I use praise when warranted but am firm on deadlines and honesty. Aware of attention span, I take appropriate breaks or switch to another subject. I remind him to read and follow directions and to check his work over before he hands it in. I believe that in this fast-paced technical age your child needs the best chance possible to compete successfully.
