My comments on tutoring Poetry : Writing since childhood, poetry has been a creative writing outlet I cannot live without. My mother is a published poet (Spanish)and it is something I have practiced for many years. I am also a singer/songwriter - this poetry experience helps me in my composition of lyrics and my creative writing as well. Writing is hard. For everyone. But it can be easier.

I allow students to discover answers by themselves by prompting them with questions. This hands off technique reflects the minimalist philosophy of the writing center I worked for, and I have found it is a far more effective way to help students grasp concepts which will globally make their writing better. Understanding the fundamentals of good writing is the most important tool to becoming a good writer; where merely diagnosing an issue and giving an answer for it leads to much more lazy writing in the future. That's what makes fundamental understanding so important, because it carries over into future assignments.

A Little Bit About Me...

We learn from our own mistakes.

I taught Arabic as a second language in Plainfield Indiana to students of different ages and of both sexes. I taught all language skills with some concentration on reading skills and conversation. The size of the class was relatively big as I had about 40 students. I encouraged students to express their ideas in the form of written sentences and the I would go over what they wrote in order to correct their sentences by showing the how to construct a sound Arabic sentences.
I encourage my students to be the core of teaching by stimulating them to engage in discussions about certain topics of their liking. Also, I encourage them express themselves even though they might make mistakes. I help them find why is it a mistake and how to correct them.
