I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.

The Achievement Centers, our after school tutorial/diagnostic clinic and before and after school care, is available for all ages and subjects. Physics is one of my top subjects! I earned my M.S. in Physics from Depaul University in 2012 and have been a full time instructor of physics, engineering and astronomy at Moraine Valley Community College ever since. While at Depaul I worked as a private tutor and had many satisfied students who saw a great increase in their grades. I am currently working on my M.S. in Science Education.

I like to make my approach to tutoring specific to each student. Most students simply need help with problem solving, and so I like to spend my hour or two a week with them working through homework problems (or problems which are similar) where I can determine their approach and try to enhance and improve upon it. Other students need me to re-explain everything they went over in class, and it becomes more of a Q&A session.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is entirely dependent on who I'm teaching. I try to prod and ask leading questions, while also looking for how it is I can relate the subject matter to the student. I consider it a failure of mine if I am ever forced to recommend a student memorizes something that they ought to understand on a deeper level.
