My comments on tutoring Spanish : I am only two courses away from completing my Spanish minor at Ball State University and have been taking Spanish classes for 9 years now. I could successfully help a second-year college level or lower.

I like to teach as if I am one friend talking to another. I find that this is the most relaxed way to encourage learning. While a relaxed atmosphere is important, my parents (both elementary and high school teachers) showed me the importance of completing objectives. I will push you, my friend, to learn as much as possible - and retain that information - during our time together.
I am in my third year at Ball State University. I recently changed my major from Biology to Accounting; therefore, I have lots of knowledge in many different areas - some that aren't listed on my profile. I graduated with a BA in Spanish Education in 2005. I then taught in IL for a year at a small school teaching Spanish 2, 3, and 4. I then got accepted at Purdue University as a Spanish Graduate Teaching Assistant. While there I taught 4 semesters of SPAN 102. After grad school I got a job in Fort Wayne, IN teaching Spanish 1 and 2 at a large suburban high school.
I love working with teenagers, however, over the last five years I've realized that I much prefer working with them on a small group or one-on-one basis. Especially with a foreign language it is much easier for the student to grasp concepts one-on-one. I am familiar with many websites the student can use to supplement tutoring time too.

I believe the greatest thing about knowledge is the ability to share it. I love to learn, but that is only the first step. The true reward comes in being able to impart that knowledge of someone else. However, each person learns differently. Whether in a classroom setting or one-on-one tutoring, it is imperative that the teacher learn how each student learns. This allows them to teach in a manner that produces the greatest results in students.
