A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Jefferson High School in the spring of 2012. I now attend Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne. I have two younger siblings and 4 younger step-siblings that I have helped with their homework, or helped them better understand material assigned to them. Their ages range from 8-17. I know how to explain certain subjects in multiple ways to ensure that eventually the student will understand the material. I am very patient, and I understand that some people learn at slower rates than others. I am majoring in nursing, though I considered teaching English before making this decision. I love teaching, and am looking to make some extra money for things I need while in college.

I like to teach by relating the subject to real life situations. All students can learn anything, it just sometimes takes a more personal approach before it really clicks. I graduated Cum Laude from Ball State with a double major in Visual Communication and Genetics. Both my parents were teachers and I often tutored my friends. As a graduate of Purdue University's School of Liberal Arts, I have been provided with a well-rounded education consisting of a variety of subjects. My degree is in Psychology, with minors in English and Religious Studies. Since graduating from Purdue in 2004, I have worked in social work, child care, and education. In previous work evaluations my supervisor has described my teaching style as "Experiential". I have a passion to teach with example and hands on practial skills. I created a game in which to teach parents and children how to get rid of their "hang ups".
