American Sign Language Teacher/Tutor

Itaught two different schools for the Deaf, one in Maine and one in Fremont, CA for 46 years. Then I was an Americn Sign Language teacher at Delta College in the year of 2011. Last year, I was a full time ASL teacher at the Valley Christian High School in Dublin. And now I am an ASL teacher at Los Medanos College in Brentwood. I am very experienced with ASL as I am Deaf but can speak and read lips very well. Teaching has always been my passion and I enjoy working with people of all ages very much. I have a Master's degree plus 15 units from University of Maine, Portland-Gorham after I graduated from Gallaudet Unversity in Washington D.C. I also taught Baby Talk with hearing parents who have hearing babies and toddlers at the Livermore Lawrence Lab for 8 weeks. Another ASL class I taught was at Quail Lakes Baptist Church in Stockton.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am a native ASL user since I was born. I have taught ASL at several colleges and universities in East and West coast. I am teaching at school for the Deaf at the moment.

I started my teaching experience when I got a job as a subsitute teacher at school for the Deaf in Ontario, Canada. I loved it so much and I went to university to get my degree in Criminology and Sociology and got masters in Deaf Education and Recreation. I used to be a subsitute teacher at Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, D.C. and got a job as a teacher at Maryland School for the Deaf. Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am currently enrolled in the Interpreter Training Program (IPP) at Ohlone College. I am fluent in American Sign Language production as well as linguistics.

I recieved top marks in all ASL classes 101 through 104 Upon completion I was accepted into the Ohlone College IPP Program and will be a certified interpreter in 2013.
