Mr. Frederick Vaughan has a very extensive and diversified musical background as a woodwind instrumentalist. He has performed professionally in 25 countries touring with several bands and ensembles such as rock bands, jazz bands, jazz combos, New Orleans style brass bands, military bands, polka bands, chamber groups, and orchestras. He as played for numerous dignitaries including, 3 United States presidents, ambassadors, foreign presidents, and congressmen. During his time with United States Navy Band Southeast he was featured as a soloist numerous times on clarinet, saxophone, and flute in a variety of classical, rock, and jazz groups. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping others understand concepts that they are struggling with. It is very gratifying when a student has that "a ha" moment. I am a little strict with instruction. If a student is not paying attention or has not completed an assignment that I've asked him/her to do, I will not overlook it. From a young age, I greatly enjoyed school and excelling in all that I put my mind to. To this end, I have earned a BS in Psychology and a minor in biology, both with Honors, and am applying to continue my education in graduate studies. Through my undergraduate work I have gained a greater understanding in biology, math, and writing papers and research manuscripts. Earning a Bachelors degree in Physics, I studied all levels of Calculus, Differential equations, linear algebra, thermal physics, electromagnetism, chemistry 1 and 2, mechanics, quantum mechanics, and many other classes. Therefore, I am very skilled in the areas of math and science.
I am more capable as a teacher and mentor to students in middle school and high school. While I have a lot of experience with elementary students, I find my best impact on middle and high school students. I like to use the Socratic method in which I try to make the student answer there own question, by posing other logical questions in which they can deduce the resolution.
