I am a student willing to be a teacher

I am currently a high school senior, I have made good grades in all of my classes, my GPA is 3.0. I tutor my brother and some of his friends, I take concurrent college classes and am enrolled in my 2nd year of Indian Capitol Technology Center. I am very good at getting ideas and teaching kids the things they have learned in a simple student to student fashion.
Very hands-on. I will get on their level and help them understand in the easiest way possible.

I have a B.S. in Biology, from NSU. My educational experience has prepared me well, and given me many skills. I have experience in all of the life sciences, and environmental studies. English and History are my other strengths. Writing, reading, research, and testing are areas I excel. I have worked with special needs children, and as a nanny. As a tutor, I learn the student's strengths and weaknesses and them prepare them with examples of the material. I believe, that everyone learns differently. So, with this I determine the best way they need to study.

Everyone can learn if given the opportunity.

I have 20+ years working in education, and teaching in multicultural settings. Teaching areas include: Math, Science, and other subjects. I posses a very strong Math/Science background because of engineering degree. Out of the 20+ years experience, I have more than half working as a tutor for grades 6-12 in the public school setting. I'm fully bilingual in Spanish. I love to teach and tutor students, and believe that everyone can learn when the proper teaching techniques are implemented considering students' individual learning styles and interests. I believe in perseverance, dedication, and honesty as the keys to success in my teaching career and never give up on anyone just because a subject seems too difficult to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

I started tutoring part time in 2004 and have continued this throughout college. I worked as a math tutor for tulsa community college part time during the summer. I have earned over 190 hours of college credit, I have two degrees, and I am only 15 hours away from a chemical engineering degree.
I am very adaptive to students learning style. I usually spend the first ten minutes of our first meeting figuring out what the student is struggling with and how to best meet their needs. I try to teach students more how to think analytical more so then just solving problems because it is more beneficial to the student. I feel that if I can teach the student how to read theorems, understand concepts, then problems just become easy at that point.

More About This Tutor...

While in an administrative position at Bethel College I earned both my Bachelor degree and my Masters in Education, both focusing on Administration. Both those degrees further helped in my teaching style when I was called upon to teach Freshman Orientation, Social Dance, and become the Director of a summer youth program for two years that involved daily lessons. Further, my life allowed me the oppotunity to go overseas as a English as a Second Language teacher in Taichung,Taiwan for a period of 3 years, teaching first grade through high schoolers. I taught Reading skills, understanding Literature (to include comprehension), Writing Skills, American Social Studies, Life Skills and Art.
My teaching style is one generally "getting on the students level." I explain things in both word and action helping the student to understand more clearly. I have been able to achieve great results ... read more

After receiving a BS in Education from Illinois State University in 1997, I began teaching all subjects in grades K - 8 in the greater Chicago area over the course of 6 years (Fall 1998 - Spring 2005). After relocating to Delaware in 2005 I began full time substitute teaching in public schools, juvenile detention / rehabilitation facilities and part time tutoring (after school). For the past two years I have been working with families in early childhood education and intervention throughout the community in all settings.
I have learned throughout my wide range of teaching experience that the most effective way for children and adults to learn is for the teacher to use the learning style of the student in planning instruction, and if the curriculum is set the teacher should have the ability to adapt the lesson appropriately. I have the skills to do both as a result of my training ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I am a graduate of UNC-Pembroke with a degree in Business Administation/Management. During the course of my college years as well as high school, I had to take a lot of math classes. We were always forming study groups and helping one another out. I brought that same drive into a Learning Center in NC where I worked for 2 years. I loved getting together with the kids and teaching them fun ways of learning.
I enjoy working with kids. I have been in their shoes & understand what they want. I like for children to see the way learning relates to everything around them, that's why I like to use visuals. I believe it captures their mind & brings fun into learning.

I began as an education major at the University of Central Oklahoma before switching to Oklahoma Baptist University. I have worked with children in a professional setting since 2004 in church, non profit, daycare, early childhood, and preschool settings. I value education and find it to be a crucial and vital part of child development. I have tutored autistic students, as well as taught preschool for 14 months both at Saint Dunstans Preschool and Holland Hall College Preparatory School.
I believe teaching is about learning instead of the outcome. I practice "learning by doing" where they create their own style and way of accomplishing the task based on age appropriate methods and ways that work for them. It is not about the final product, but rather how they get to the proposed finish. Kids will go as far as you push them and typically exceed ones expectations.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a registered professional structural engineer with 12 years of experience degining and analyzing buildings and homes for structural integrity. I have experience teaching at the college level as a student teacher (2 years) and as a college professor (for mechanical drafting) at Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City campus. I think it is important to provide real-world examples to students who are learning the basic formulas and principles found in their text books. This gives them something concrete to envision how the formulas are best applied. I am an expert test-taker and will be a valuable asset to anyone looking to prepare for any upcoming tests.
I am a firm believer in using practical applications to textbook formulas and principles to help students understand the "meanings behind the math." However, everybody has their best learning style, and I strive to find that in ... read more
