A Little Bit About Me...

I am an independent financial consultant, and I have three children. Consequently I've been tutoring many years for my children and have experience teaching math from first grade to high school. I love math, so I try to convey my love for math on the student. I like to explain things in terms of what they understand and build upon it into the new material that they are working on. I am patient and willing to spend as much time as needed till the information is understood. I make effective use of diagrams and charts to help visualize what students are actually calculating. This helps as a check to see if their work is correct. I try to lean towards understanding over memorization wherever possible.
While in college, I tutored for the AMP/Cstep program in New Paltz. I worked there for 3 semesters tutoring any subject up to calculus 2. After college, I worked for an SAT preparation service teaching the math sections. Additionally, I have been tutoring students in math privately since graduation.

I am a patient teacher, and I use many different ways of communication. I try to find the style of learning best suited to my pupil. Removing the fear of the subject seems to be the most important part. I go through many many examples, until I feel that the student, and more importantly, the student has a feeling of confidence and mastery.
