My style of teaching includes LOTS of visual supports as well as hands-on/interactive materials which are adapted to each child's individual learning style.
I have worked in the field of special education for over 20 years in the non-profit sector and as a teacher in public school as well as private tutoring in a therapeutic setting. I specialize in working with children who have autism but have worked with children who have a variety of special needs from birth thru 6th grade.

I'm a firm believer that all children are different, yet, all are capable of learning. It is the responsibility of the teacher/tutor to identify the specific learning style of the students they are responsible for. Once this has been established, there should be a lot of motivation from both, teacher/tutor and the student. I practice one-on-one and hands-on strategies with students so that they may feel at ease, and to relax as they learn, and then I gradually allow them to become more engaged on their own.
