My comments on tutoring World History : I am a bit of a history buff. I really enjoy it, particularly European history (especially World War II).

I do my best to lead the student to an answer or solution rather than telling them what to do. I do my best to find out the students learning style and adapt to his or her needs
Very ealry on in college my English professor recommended me for tutoring English. I am not an expert, but I found I was good at helping people with their writing.I also tutored beginner Russian students while I was studying at UVM. I also helped my Russian professor correct homework and tests. outside of school, I have a good year of experience substitute teaching and was often recommended for one-on-one assignments.

I try to discern how the student is thinking about the work, and then I use a variety of techniques to guide him/her to understanding. i take a more relaxed route of teaching. i have found that if you sit there and point out faults and appear like you expect them to get it right on the first try it will turn the student away from you and cause them to hate the subject and ultimately fail. i take a more friendly route. talk about myself admit faults that i have when they appear. i try to become friends with the student in question and add fun with learning. if there is something specific that is needed extra attention to i will ask them to do the problem and point out there faults. i do not do everything for them. i let them test there knowledge and provide support when needed.

Three teachers impacted my life not only as a result of the content of their classes but in their delivery. All three approached learning as an adventure. Even though the topics ranged from sixth grade mathematics to fluid dynamics each teacher keyed their presentation on the reception of the students. If the first presentation didn’t get the topic across an alternative presentation was made, often in a humorous vein. Students were never allowed to feel inadequate.
