A Little Bit About Me...

A degree in Bioethics reflects the importance I place on interdisciplinary studies. As an undergraduate, I completed all of the Pre-medicine requirements with the exception of a few labs. I believe literature and philosophy to play an essential role in all our respective endeavors but found in lacking in a Biology major. Thus, I took it upon myself to develope my own major which integrated the sciences and the humanities. After college I taught as a substitute teacher and have experience working with children of all levels of intelligence and of all different backgrounds.

A Little Bit About Me...

The breadth of my experience has enriched my teaching life, but left me without a luxury some of my colleagues enjoy-the sense, as embarked upon a new challenge,tutoring students, that I know what students will need, and how best to share it with them. This is not to say that I've been tossed blind into the classroom. In most cases, I've had enough prep time to gather what seem like appropriate materials, and find out something about the students I'll be working with. What I have not had is the critical mass of sameness that accrues to the teacher who stays in the same setting, at the same level, for many years in a row. I enjoy teaching and watching my student growth and development.

I am certified to teach both math and reading in Florida. I am particularly strong in helping students to understand the basics. I became a teacher because I feel that I can make a positive difference in my students' lives while providing them quality instruction from a teacher who truly cares. My last teaching assignments were in preparing high risk students to pass the FCAT and the GED. My students exhibited a ninety-seven percent pass rate on both tests upon passing my class.
Students should be taught as individuals based on their particular learning styles. People learn at their own rate.
