As a recent CofC graduate attaining my Bachelors of Science degree in Biology, I have a vast knowledge of Biology and Chemistry courses. I also attained minors in Chemistry and Psychology. In high school I completed Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Biology, English, and Calculus and placed out of 21 college credit hours. With this experience, I gained knowledge about the arrangment and expectations of these classes and examinations. I graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Sociology. Almost immediately I went to work in the behavioral health field. While there, I found an ability to connect with, and build a rapport with the residents at the facility. After a year, I took a position as a Clinical Counselor at the Medical University of South Carolina, working with emotionally disabled adolescents and putting together "groups" or behavioral classes in the hospital. I have taken and passed PRAXIS examinations in the field of Special Education, and am now a highly qualified Special Education teacher. I have taught Special Education in three Counties, and absolutely love teaching.

One of the most rewarding things about teaching is seeing the progress a student makes, whether it be quick or slow, and one of the great things about reading and writing is that it is a skill that can only be improved upon. Reading and writing is not something that is forgotten over the summer, and once something clicks with a student, that is the most satisfying aspect of being a teacher or tutor.
