Since my hire in August 2004, I have planned, co written, and implemented curriculum. As a result, 74.6% of my students exceeded the state average for the 2005 SCISA assessment of State Standards; scores in Seventy-five point four percent of my students exceeded the state average for the 2005. In addition, I have also implemented various academic incentive programs for student enrichment. Since I acquired language using primarily the conversational method, that is my basic approach to teaching. Of course there are the basics of grammar and syntax, style and such, all of which are necessary, but if you cannot open your mouth and produce an intelligible phrase, then what good is it to acquire another language? I approach this method through dialogue with my pupil - the Aristotelian method, if you will. I ask the questions, they provide the responses and I correct them on the points of grammar that are applicable to the extent situation. This, I believe, frames the lesson in a practical application, as opposed to mere rote memorization. It's the method that worked for me, so I believe in it and I use it.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Sociology. Almost immediately I went to work in the behavioral health field. While there, I found an ability to connect with, and build a rapport with the residents at the facility. After a year, I took a position as a Clinical Counselor at the Medical University of South Carolina, working with emotionally disabled adolescents and putting together "groups" or behavioral classes in the hospital.
