Time Tested Teacher

I began my 32 year teaching career in the field of music. I taught in the Visalia Unified School District in Visalia, California. I taught classroom music to children in grades 4-6. This was a job that required traveling from school to school encompassing 12 schools a week. During that time, I worked on completing a fifth year of college in order to obtain an elementary teaching credential from California State University, Fresno. I have been told often I am especially patient, which I believe is one of the most important qualities for a teacher to have. I know from experience that not all children learn in the same environment, so I would love work one-on-one with a student to help him or her to gain the experience that may be lacking. While some teachers favor a direct instruction approach, I try to tailor my instruction to the growing and diverse needs of each student. Some are more auditory learners than others, therefore, for those you would need a lot of teaching by rote, i.e "do as I do", so to speak.
