My teaching style would best be described as finding the best methods to help students learn a subject and then using them. No two students are exactly alike so why teach them that way?
I have been employed by Toledo Public Schools since 1999. I have taught French, Math,Social Studies and Special Education Classes. Some of the classes I was a long term sub teacher where I taught for three or more months at a time. I have also taught on a daily basis English, Science,Health and a variety of other subjects. I like to teach by example and give the student the opportunity to learn by doing. I do not do the work for the student, but instead allow him or her to do the work with my support until he or she is capable of doing the work independently. I am patient and thorough with my work. I do not get angry and I do not act strict with students. I would say that it is a little more toward laid back. Being over 6" tall, stocky, pushing hard, being an ogre, hard-nosed, that isn't going to work for me. People have a tendency to be a bit intimidated and fearful because of my size. I will use it to my advantage if it is necessary, or becomes necessary, but I've found being a little more quiet, reserved and coaxing the student to initiate the discussion is a little better. Ask leading questions, adjust and proceed, based on their response.
