A Little Bit About Me...

While I was in High School I tutored Elementary students in reading, spelling, science and social studies in all grades. I also tutored high school students in English and math to pass school entry exams. I had a 100% passing rate! During my University career I tutored students in Micro and Macro Economics, all maths, Spanish and Machine Dynamics and Control. I've also received training on how to use different tools to tutor students that understand at different levels. Foreign students who are struggling with English has great company in me since I am a foreigner myself but earned a Master in ESL in the US. After obtaining a list of objectives, I like to offer a pop quiz to set a baseline. Thereafter, topics are divided in number of days available for preparation. Most important topics and topics not well understood get time and individualized priority. Offer a challenge test at the end. Harder than the test students will face but no so hard as to lower self steem.

First, an analysis of student skills must be taken to ensure foundational skills are sufficient. Next, students need an explanation of new material; I prefer a hands-on approach. I tutored for Sheridan Community College in Sheridan WY from Jan. 2000 to July 2004. I tutored mostly higher maths, ranging from algebra to business calculus.
