A Little Bit About Me...

In my teaching I stress fundamental design principles, technique and color theory. I am also invested in exposing students to art history which I believe enriches,informs and helps to shape a students own individual style. I have instructed adult classes in oil painting that focus on the figure, landscape and portraiture. Currently I implement arts integrated programs for K-8 in the Chicago Public Schools as a contractor.
In my teaching I employ communicative tools to facilitate both individual and group instruction. I am often energized when I work with students and feel responsible to transfer something they will apply in their daily lives. My most recent experience in teaching would be the year I spent in Seoul, South Korea. I began as a teacher and was soon the head teacher of the Kindergarten programs. Our kindergarten programs were a full day and full immersion for the students. I taught the middle school afternoon programs from ages 6-14 and at every level as well as in every subject. My most advanced students were fluent and therefore studied intensive subjects such as science, political history, geography and several others. We most intensely worked on writing and reading. My college experiences were spent observing as a student teacher, tutoring hispanic immigrants, and eventually teaching a semester of high school spanish classes.
