A Little Bit About Me...

My experience is more hands-on and personal, I suppose. I love history and write constantly, in addition to having a great interest in photography and television. I majored in American Studies which focused on history and culture in the US, and minored in Creative Writing and Digital Arts. It is a dream of mine to help others learn, as I think college and knowledge is an incredible and necessary aspect that people need.
In my experience, I do not teach but simply assist people who need it. In college I helped my friends by explaining how to correct their writing, and offering advice. I am patient and willing to help as best as I can without being condescending towards students.

More About This Tutor...

I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others to learn. I don't believe in "I can't do it" or "I can't learn". I believe that anyone can learn anything as long as they're willing to learn and put an effort to do so. What is different is that some people have more ability than other to learn certain tasks, but eventually, everyone can learn. It is all a matter of adapting oneself to the student's need and ability to learn. My goal is to make the student learn what they set up their mind to learn in the first place, and help them improve their condition. It is very rewarding to see that you have made a difference in their lives.
Having parents that place a great emphasis in achieving higher education, I graduated from high school with the age of 15 years old and was accepted in National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, for the degree in Life Science Biology. While studying in T ... read more

If it can be fun, make it fun. If not, make it short.

Throughout my teaching and tutoring career, I have often found that I can help my students achieve beyond what was expected of them. At the end of this process, my biggest joy is to see my student successfully working on the tasks without my assistance. I've taught in public school and private school from PreK through 12th grade and even adult learners. Elementary students have learned to read. A high school senior learned to do basic math for the first time in his life. Homeschooling my own children was another such amazing time in my growth as an educator. I love sharing my knowledge, or even learning together with my students. One such case was when I coached a parent through her citizenship exam practice. Another was when I prepped a friend for a lifeguard exam that she had failed twice. Seeing my students of all ages succeed is a joy.
My motto is if at all possible, I want ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have a fervent desire to play a role in the education of our children. Since my early occupations in school administration, I knew that I wanted to be in the classroom, guiding students and experiencing the excitement of learning something new alongside each of them. I used this initial motivation to eventually move into education, eventually landing at Choices In Learning. It is clearly evident from my experiences that I have a passion for teaching and, more importantly, for walking with students through each challenge, success, and failure. Through my experiences, I have also learned a great deal about what it takes to be a teacher, a mentor, and a friend, and I have had the opportunity to learn about myself through my interactions with students from different backgrounds. This high level of experience, my ability and desire to try new teaching techniques and my openness to new idea ... read more
