Experience Summary
Having parents that place a great emphasis in achieving higher education, I graduated from high school with the age of 15 years old and was accepted in National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, for the degree in Life Science Biology. While studying in Taiwan,I offered individual tutoring in Spanish and English for college students and adults who wanted to improve their knowledge on the language.
After two years of studying in Taiwan, I decided to expand my horizons in education and applied for Brigham Young University Hawaii for the major of Psychology.During the time I spent studying in Brigham Young University Hawaii, I worked for the Counseling Department as tutor for a variety of subjects from Foreign Languages (such as Chinese and Spanish) to General Education (such as Psychology, Biology, History, Art, etc). I also worked as an Academic Advisor’s Assistant, where I could help my fellow students in a career choice, as well as practice my office skills.
Teaching Style
I have always enjoyed teaching and helping others to learn. I don't believe in "I can't do it" or "I can't learn". I believe that anyone can learn anything as long as they're willing to learn and put an effort to do so. What is different is that some people have more ability than other to learn certain tasks, but eventually, everyone can learn. It is all a matter of adapting oneself to the student's need and ability to learn.
My goal is to make the student learn what they set up their mind to learn in the first place, and help them improve their condition. It is very rewarding to see that you have made a difference in their lives.
My Hobbies
Latin music dancing, Volleyball, Swimming, Biking, Painting, Drawing, Needlework, Reading, Arts & Crafts, Violin, Flute, Sing.
Top Subjects
Biology
I have been a tutor for over 15 years, with a BAS in Psychology, BS in Biology and Health Science, and a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine.
My students usually pull up their grades from a F up to a C+, that's how much I help them understand the subject. Eventually they reach a B or A depending on how much effort they put into it.
My specialty is to adjust the teaching method on the subject, to the student's learning ability. I believe everyone can learn, they just have different ways to do it. I also focus on the student's need, which is something most students nowadays don't obtain at school from their teachers.
