I graduated in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University, and taught fourth grade for 3 years. I relocated to accommodate my husbands job. I prefer hands on teaching, but I like to remain flexible to the individuals learning style. Depending on the topics covered, we read, write, and do hands-on activities to keep the brain stimulated. Sometimes if applicable, and with parental consent, we would do art projects and maybe watch an educational film (that the parent has approved of course). For sciences and social studies I really like the idea of field trips, but everything will be permitted by the parental figures first. These field trips usually include going to parks and observing natural habitats, or even visiting the local museums. We can usually negotiate a small group trip which makes the costs slim to none to have these extra curricular activities. I really like children and love seeing the light go on when they finally comprehend the area of study that has been troubling them. I want children to learn to think for themselves in problem solving, not just go through the steps to get to an answer. Learning can and should be fun.
