A Little Bit About Me...

In 2009, I graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor degree in Classics with a minor in Art History. During my senior year, I was the primary Latin instructor for a 7 year old home schooled student. I developed a curriculum for a full year's worth of classes as well as designed learning activities to instruct in the Roman culture in addition to Latin.
I believe that each student has the ability to learn and understand material as long as they are taught the right tools to harness their potential. I believe that a big part of teaching is listening and observing. Not every student learns the same way, so it is important to be patient and try to understand what works best for the student. In many cases, examples are helpful in learning. Examples that are tailored to a specific student (e.g. drawing correlations to cooking for measurements, or sports for averages) can be a great basis for understanding concepts. I have done classroom teaching and one-on-one teaching. I prefer the one-on-one approach because it is so effective, and so satisfying for myself and the student when progress is made.
