Believing that people learn best from what they consider most relevant to their lives, my teaching style is one which encourages learners to seek a higher level of knowledge. In addition to reading textbooks, the students must learn by doing. I encourage life long learning by promoting a sense of what it takes to successfully retrieve information when one needs it later. Basic memorization generally fails us all in time. Modifying or adapting information in a manner to help the learner reach success is crucial. More About This Tutor...

For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects.
My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention.
