My comments on tutoring Basic Learning Skills : I have a Bachelors in Applied Arts and Sciences from Texas State University and worked as an interpreter for a Regional Day School Program for the Deaf in Texas for 14 years and much of that time was in the elementary school setting. My job description as an interpreter included being a teacher's aid and a tutor. I interpreted all subjects and so I am very familiar working with students at this age. Because I was in the general educational classrooms I not only tutored the Deaf students, I also tutored the hearing students who needed help.

I love to see students "Get it!" when I tutor. I am patient, tenacious and I don't give up until a student understands! One of my areas of expertise is creating visual materials for students who are visual learners. I will draw, use manipulatives and anything else it takes to explain a concept. I worked for 14 years as an interpreter/tutor for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and tutor to hearing students as well. I'm a freshman at Southeast High and I'm in ROTC.

I just do what works for the students. I find it easier to teach shyer kids, because that's how I was, but, I'm always up for a challenge!! Also, elementary kids are easier, but again, always up for a challenge! I usually try to figure out how they learn, maybe through a hobby, or something like that.
I've never tutored for money, but I usually help my friends out with homework, school work, ect. I just need the money, so I figured why not tutor? It seems fun. So, I got on here, and viola! Here I am! So. yeah. Not much paid experience, but I'm willing to negotiate on prices!!! I will have the occasional weird times when I will not be available ,thanks to JROTC, but most of the time I'll get out of school at 2:15-ish.

Throw out my high school year I was in a program called “Learn and Serve”. This program consisted of going to the closest elementary school for an hour a day and be a teachers aid. Therefor, I help any student who was having difficulties. In some cases would even help teach a lesson if the only adult in the room was a sub teacher.
I find diffrent ways to help children understand what they are learning in a fun way.

A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have a bachelors degree in sociology with a minor in elementary education.
