I have worked with children in the public school system for thirty-four years as a classroom teacher, Title I augmented reading teacher and as a media specialist. Largely due to my years experience as a reading teacher my class of inner city children scored in the top one percentile on the Georgia Criterion Reference Test(GA CRCT) in Reading. I spent 4 years in college teaching preschool, as well as 2 years as a high-needs reading tutor for the psych dept at my university. My degree is in journalism/English Lit and my GPA in Lit was a 3.7. I have three children of my own, and they are all avid readers, with my oldest reading 150+ books per school year. I'm well-aware of the current and classical children's literature out there, and taught both of my older children to read - at 5 and 3, respectively.

With my Bachelor's degree, I began tutoring through Reading Success and conducted private tutoring of Georgia History. I progressed to teaching English, Spanish, and some Special Education Resource classes at the High School level, and continued to teach lower level English classes at a local college along with reading in an Adult Continuing Education program through another college. My writing skills have been sharpened as I edited and wrote articles for newsletters, newspaper releases, and in an administrative capacity.
