A Little Bit About Me...

In the summer time during my undergraduate career I worked as a camp counselor and coach in Colorado for children from the ages of 6-18. After completion of my BA I coached at my alma-mater. From there I decided to pursue my graduate education and took a scholarship in the althetic department at the University of Arkansas where I became an academic advisor for the football team for 4 years. In the summers during my graduate career I worked for Sylvan Learning centers. I began as an English teacher and filled in on Math when they were short handed. I worked with all levels from pre-K to adult. After obtaining my doctorate without dissertation, I took a job teaching English in South Korea.

I graduated in May 2009 from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA with a B.A. in English Literature and Language Arts with a concentration in grades 6-12. My senior year I began student teaching and started graduate level courses to begin obtaining my Master's in Teaching for English. While doing so I volunteered in the surrounding public school system for grades 4-12. I was a tutor for the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program for Hines Middle School readers in Newport News, VA and for Menchville High School grades 10-12.
