Enthusatic elementary teacher with a passion for teaching!

I taught for two years in third grade and two years in second grade in North Carolina. I am currently awaiting my Virginia elementary education license. I prepared third grade students for the End of Grade state standardized test, in which my classes did very well. As a teacher in North Carolina, I communicated frequently with parents, worked daily with co-workers to review student data for the purpose of remediation, and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of my diverse students. I helped to prepare students for the demands of a 21st century economy through daily use of technology, collaborative learning groups and hands-on, inquiry based instruction. Character building skills were incorporated in all academic areas. As an elementary school teacher, I prepared students to be independent, life-long learners.
Enthusiastic, loving and passionate for teaching.

My comments on tutoring Grammar : Expert at all grammatical concepts. To do good for people and help them with their grammar, you have to do well in grammar. If you are having difficulty with your grammar, I will teach you easy ways to figure out the correct grammar using what you already know. Grammar can be easy.

I used to hate math, now I love it.

i am pretty relaxed and informal, but I expect students to do the work assigned. I help, but I don't do the work for them. I use Socratic questioning to get students to understand the material. I stress learning concepts and building on them as opposed to memorizing or guessing enough to pass a test.

Recently retook Precalculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and Calculus 3 at Virginia Western Community College. I believe an interactive approach to teaching is the most effective style of relaying information. Lecture with constant questioning and feedback has proven effective for my classroom situations in the past. I also have had great success with modeling the writing process in a step-by-step procedural format. My students and I both enjoy using a multimedia approach to improving all styles of communication. Identifying and focusing on the best learning style of each individual student is my key to success.
