I have been tutoring since high school. When I was in high school, I tutored my brother in elementary level math. When I was in college, I tutored students in chemistry and math. I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry and have also had numerous math courses. I can tutor in any math subject up to calculus 2 and up to any undergraduate chemistry course.
I find that the best way to tutor my students is to find out what they are struggling with the most in a subject and then helping them with the basics in that subject. First I would like to get to know the student and parents, focusing mainly on the student's interests and goals as well as how they feel about the particular subject they will be tutored in. After that I would have the student show me where they currently are in class and what they need help with. Then, depending on the particular circumstances, I would create a plan to get the student caught up and self-sufficient as quickly as possible. Even though fast results are what I hope for, the student would set the pace of the sessions.
