A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that children learn in a variety of ways and teachers are responsible for providing this variety. I like many teachers, have a constructivist approach. I also understand that students learn through various means and approaches, and teachers must be aware and knowledgeable of the means and approaches necessary to maximize learning and present proper accomodations when needed.
After achieving a bachelors of mathematics from Kent State University, I obtained a long-term substitute teaching certificate in integrated mathematics grades 7-12. I taught in an alternative school for more than a year from 2008-2009. In addition, I obtained employment in a traditional school for the remaining six weeks of the 2009-2010 school year. I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
