I believe that children learn in a variety of ways and teachers are responsible for providing this variety. I like many teachers, have a constructivist approach. I also understand that students learn through various means and approaches, and teachers must be aware and knowledgeable of the means and approaches necessary to maximize learning and present proper accomodations when needed.
After achieving a bachelors of mathematics from Kent State University, I obtained a long-term substitute teaching certificate in integrated mathematics grades 7-12. My goal is to simply to help. Everyone can learn, even in subjects they find difficult. I understand from first-hand experience why people can find the sciences difficult, especially Math and Physics, because I myself have had great difficulty with them in the past. So I know how hard it is, and I know that its possible to succeed despite this. I think the key is for someone to find a method of studying that works for them, and everyone is different. I like to teach using examples, either on a board to show a person step by step first. Then try to give the student examples to try to solve themselves. If this does not work I continue to breakdown a problem until we can clearly identify where the student is having trouble.
