Hello everyone! My name is Michael and I am a senior at the University of Utah. My major is Japanese Language and Literature. I'm expecting to graduate next spring and am looking forward to helping you learn more Japanese. Japanese language and culture are very interesting. Japanese calligraphy, tea ceremony, festivals, and traditions are all insights into the Japanese people and to learn Japanese, in my opinion you also need to understand Japanese culture. Some phrases and expressions don’t translate directly, you have to understand the culture to really understand it. For beginner students who haven’t learned how to read or write the syllabary of Japanese Hiragana and Katakana, I strongly recommend that you learn them early to improve reading and pronunciation. My comments on tutoring Japanese : Degree in Japanese and Linguistics from Brigham Young University. Lived in Japan for 2 years in Tokyo. Taught Japanese for 3 years to beginning and intermediate level students

I have taught Japanese for 3 years to those ranging from no knowledge whatsoever through intermediate learners. Lived in Japan for 2 years and continued study of Japan with my bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University. I have a broad knowledge of the Japanese culture and of the history of Japan. I have experience in translation of written documents (books, newspapers, etc) and in real-time translation of speech. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching goal is to engage all students. Learning is fun. I am enthusiastic about any subject matter to be taught. Expecting students to master the concept, I teach in a variety of ways (discovery, literacy, guided learning, direct instruction, etc) until I feel that they have it.
