A Little Bit About Me...

I am the second eldest of 6 children with a 20 year gap from the youngest to the eldest. They have taught me patience, understanding, adaptability, and creativity. I love teaching and helping children understand that math isn't just for nerds - math can be fun and above all - easy. I am a firm believer that a solid foundation in mathematics helps build reasoning skills, the ability to include logic in making decisions, and team-work. My goal is to bring back mathematics as another achievement in student's lives, and to remove the idea that math is a trend or something for "Smart kids" to do. I recently relocated to Portland from the New York City / New Jersey area after working in the e-marketing department at Carnegie Hall. I've studied piano throughout my life, starting at age 7, and graduated Westminster Choir College in Princeton NJ with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2005. While at Westminster, much of the curriculum I studied was focused on music education and piano pedagogy. I have experience teaching private piano lessons to all ages (as young as 5 and as old as 70), teaching music in elementary school classes, and tutoring other college students.
