I firmly believe that I am a student-centered educator. My ego is not involved in what I am doing. Each child learns in a different manner. A teacher's job is that of finding out how each student learns and then developing lessons that benefit each student. The same applies to tutoring. I earned a bachelor of science degree in Adolescent/Young Adult English/Language Arts Education from Miami University in December 2008. I then taught tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade English for six months, from January to June 2009. During the 2009-2010 school year I have been substitute teaching in both middle and high school. I am currently in a freshman English classroom for seven weeks while the full-time teacher is out on maternity leave and I will be in an eighth grade English classroom for seven weeks for another maternity leave until the end of the school year.

I use a combined demonstration and discussion style for lecture and introduction of topics to be studied. Labs are a demonstration followed by a monitored hands-on work experience. I integrate reading and computational skills into my subject matter and use contemporary internet sources to supplement all content items. Practice assignments are designed as reinforcers for the most important skills and topics of the lesson. Homework is for quality, not for quantity.
