During my college career, I tutored for two years. I tutored first and second year undergraduates, consistently dealing with issues concerning reading comprehension, paper construction, grammar, and developmental thinking. I have also been teaching the last year (9th grade English) at a private school. My education (BA in English) successfully prepared me to teach the basics of English, i.e. grammar, sentence construction, identifying parts of speech, etc, as well as the less concrete ideas, such as theories, literary trends, intense analysis, and the like.

My teaching philosophy involves connecting with individual students. One of my strengths is identifying strong points in a student’s performance and teaching him to tap into successful facets of his/her performance. In English, I was trained in (and advocate) “Faulkner English” as developed by Claude Faulkner and taught at the University of Arkansas.
