Working with students and education has been a part of my life for about 11 years. I first began doing so in high school, around 1999 working as a volunteer with the YMCA. Eventually I became a counselor and would work my way up to Camp Director. I am proud to say that I am the first of my family to attend a University. Currently I am a senior at Cuny Lehman College in the Bronx, NY where I study English Literature and minor in Secondary Education. I'm Alfred University Graduate student in Literacy Education, graduating in May, 2010. I attended AU for my undergrad work in Elementary education. During my time here I was able to do my student teaching, which were the best learning experiences I've had. During the summer of 2009, I tutored a young girl in ELA, to help with her speech and language impairment, which was very hands-on and a pleasure learning about her.
