As a student I enjoyed most the teachers who facilitated learning. Teachers who lead students on a road of discovery as they learned, who taught me how to think and not what to think. I model my teaching after the same style I enjoyed as a student. Helping a student discover for themselves the material not only educates them but fosters a passion for the subject at hand. Rote memory has it's place and is essential, but when a student becomes passionate about a subject, then the door is open for them to excel at it. I have worked with the Milwaukee Public Schools since January 2007 as a Paraprofessional Educational Assistant. I assist students with challenging subjects as needed. Previous to working in the Milwaukee Public Schools District, I worked at the UW-Milwaukee Children’s Center as a teacher in a kindergarten classroom. I instructed students on reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Through my courses at UW-Milwaukee, I have been placed in many field placements. In these field placements, I planned and implemented lesson plans. I believe that every child can learn and be successful. Students all do not learn the same as the teacher, you need to change how you teach and present materials to get the attention of all of the learners in the classroom. Just recently, I worked with students in New Berlin, WI as part of the Junior Achivement program. While in High School and College, I worked with students in Madison at Whitehorse Middle School on Video Editing, PC Repair, Postmodernism, and Music.
