I believe a "hands-on" approach is the best way to retain knowledge given all learning styles. If we do it, we will remember it. I have been a substitute teacher for the last 25 years in different areas of the country where I have moved. I home-schooled my 2 children for 12 years mostly when I lived in Alaska. I worked first hand with professor and teaching assistant and have learned what they are looking for. I believe in teaching concepts and helping students fully understand ideals rather than students just memorizing facts. This way no matter what the professor asks they will know how to answer questions and ace exams. If they just memorize things, they can get confused and get answers distorted. I believe in hands on learning and teaching. I would make "Jeopardy" games to quiz students and also have fun at the same time. By quizing on concepts that are being taught, it gives insight to what the student is understanding and therefore, I can adjust and clarify things that the student is not understanding.
