A Little Bit About Me...

I am an experienced tutor. I tutored all through high school. I am currently a freshmen at George Mason University. I've helped kids with mainly math, piano, and chinese. I've also helped elementary school kids with homework and basic learning skills etc. I enjoy helping kids understand their materials and I do my best to help make learning something fun and interesting.
I think interest in the subject leads to motivation to do well. I try my best to keep the kids interested in the subject by making games and sometimes surprises. I do think that homework I assigned is very important because I believe practice makes perfect. My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I am able to tutor all math concepts at the elementary and middle school levels.

I have over of 30 years of progressive experience in tutoring young children in the elementary years of education in all subject matter areas. My specialty is literacy and reading, but I am also adept in teaching all of the math curricula as well. I also firmly believe that teaching organizational skills and proper research methodologies are very important for the classroom today--and every child needs these skills in order to excel in the classroom and survive. I discuss in length the whole topic first and then try to ascertain students understanding level on the topic. Then I try to prepare a personalized strategy for each student based on his/her grasping ability. This usually involves teaching those topics again, giving home assignments to students, periodically conducting unit tests and assessing them. I undertake quiz sessions to keep a track on student's progress. I make sure that my class environment turns to be interesting for the students by maintaining a friendly approach. Elementary, Middle, High School and College Tutor

I usually start with a diagnostic test to concentrate on weaker areas then come up with a weekly plan focusing on those areas. After a lesson, I usually give worksheets and sometimes online exercises, depending on the subject, and use videos and games if applicable.
I have tutored and mentored students for more than five years in Algebra I & II, Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, English and ESL. I have a degree in Psychology and a certificate in TEFL. I believe tutoring is a really helpful and useful addition to class and studying by oneself because it is reviewing class material once again and it is a way for students to be accountable to yet another person who knows the answers to their questions and can help them work to that answer as well.
