My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I have been writing fiction for 25 years.

I spent over 20 years as a graphic designer for various colleges and universities. In that time I used my office as an educational opportunity for my student assistants, but I always had the desire to teach. In 2011 I returned to school for my Teacher Certification in English Language Arts and Reading grades 8-12. I have since then taught English I, II, III and IV, Recovery Reading for 9th and 10th graders, as well as Art and Yearbook. My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : Although the bulk of my career has involved writing as a journalist, I have -- from time to time -- ventured into fiction and feel perfectly comfortable tutoring in that subject area as well.

I am foremost a writer whose 38-year, award-winning career is rooted in journalism. However, I also have an extensive teaching background. My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I have taken upper level English courses for the past six years.

My teaching style is a demonstrator. I like teacher-centered classes with an emphasis on demonstration and modeling. I try to act like a role model by demonstrating skills and processes and then as a guide in helping students develop apply theses skills and knowledge.
