My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : The past 25 years I have beenn teaching Reading, Language and Arts in the Oklahoma Public School System. I have a Reading Specialist Certificate and have taught small group interventions (5-6 students) which involved reinforcement with phonics skills: synonyms, antonyms, homophones, homonyms, pronunciation of letter sounds, identification of vowels,, consonants, vowel pals, and have worked a lot with English as a Second Language Students to help them learn the English language.

I spend a lot of time teaching small group interventions which focuses on the Reading Sufficiency criteria that is mandated by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. I was accepted into AmeriCorps*NCCC, a community-based, government-run volunteer program upon my college graduation in 2003. Over the course of the next year, I was able to participate in projects that included working with the homeless, foodbanks, environmental projects, Habitat for Humanity and various educational programs.
