Working with kids is my fascination. I believe that teaching children should not be standing up and lecturing or simply explaining something. Its about getting to know the students, making the students feel important and unique in their own special way and most importantly I believe a teacher should be a role model. The teacher must adjust his or her teaching approach to the way the student will learn what’s being taught to them not the other way around. Everything should be done in the interest of the children and their academic success. All students are different and they all have different learning styles. In my last three years of teaching I was the Inclusion/Resource teacher, however, I also worked with some Life-Skills students, as well as doing some 4th grade co-teaching. I am comfortable in working with at-risk students and understand the importance of having a rapport with them. My first year as a teacher I taught ESL at a catholic high school.
