A Little Bit About Me...

As an Engineer in making I go through this process everyday where sometimes I have to learn and sometimes I have to teach. I work in a team, and try to make connection between material and some real life example. Just to show an example, the pythagorus theorem is really useful to work around were we make use of the hypotenuse to walk less from point a to b rather than going through the path.
I am a student from Rutgers University pursuing double major in Electrical and Computer Engineer. As an engineer, I have taken all the Calculus courses and also on top of that required Chemistry and Physics. I was awarded Most passionate about Mathematics award and also was named young scholar of new jersey.

I have been a teacher at Blue Mountain High School for three years. Prior to that I taught at Reading High School for two years. In addition, I was a mathematics aide for a year at Schuylkill Valley High School. In all my experience, I have taught everything from Algebra I to Calculus. Earning my Master's degree last year, gave some more strategies to use and develop both in and out of the classroom. I have tutored friends and relatives over the past 15 years and I love the one on one interaction with the student.
I teach as if each student was my own child. I treat students the same way I would want my own children treated. Therefore, I teach with the same inspiration. I am convinced that students think math has to be hard, but I approach math with a different attitude. There are definitely some aspects of math that can be troubling, these are the concepts we need to work harder o ... read more

I have taught high school in three different countries: Germany, UK and USA. I am passionate about foreign languages and social studies, and I care about my students. It is my intention to broaden their horizons and help them reach their potential as students and as human beings.
I believe in constructivism. Students learn more when they make their own learning. They need to see the real world application of the material and how it applies to them. I try to create tasks that are hands-on, use authentic materials, and encourage students to collaborate with others and think outside of the box.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a visual learner and the best way to teach would be to give the learner something he can visually grasp. First if possible demonstrate visually then combine that with numbers and show the proper steps to solve the problem algebraically. Then offer different situations and examples for them to practice.
I tutored Calculus through the Peer tutoring program at my high school and at my College. I enjoy math and enjoy watching others learn it as well. Because of my love of math and hands on work I chose Mechanical Engineering as my major with a minor in Architecture. I am doing very well so far and enjoying it also.

When teaching or tutoring a student I have found that there are several factors in how it should be approached. The most important of the factors are the subject matter and the students learning style. The learning style of the student has to be considered when teaching. Helping a student learn requires finding the most effective method. You want to make sure they understand the subject matter while exposing them to other possible ways to approach difficult problems. You can provide tools not only for the problems they are having but preparing them to handle future difficulties. Teaching can be rewarding as you help the student help themselves by discovering their own strength and weakness as well as was to improve.

I learn visually and like to teach that way. I believe there is a great deal of concepts and memorization in Chemistry. I am not able to memorize all of the subject and would not ask a student to. Instead, explanation and demonstration of the concept, followed by memorization of the rule grants a greater understanding. The rule can then be applied to other areas and is worth much more than a large volume of memorized information. This is possibly more true in the fields of Math and Physics, learning rules and concepts goes a long way. I prefer to patiently explain, draw, or demonstrate the concept at hand then work on problems that further illustrate that concept.
I Studied chemistry at the University of Wyoming. During my years there I helped tutor many friends and friends of friends in the subjects of Chemistry, Math and Physics. Also, I worked as a lifeguard and used my ... read more

Teaching is a difficult task. Everyone learns at a different pace and on their own level. Some students are quick learners and their teacher only needs to go over the lesson once; other students need to hear the subject content in a different form to understand it. Having said that, I can't explain my teaching style as a cut and dry formula. The skill level of each student and the way they process information will determine how I will present them with questions and explanations. I don't believe in teaching every student with the same teaching style; I believe in conforming to the skill level of the student so that at the end of the day, they learn the topic we set out to conquer.
As a Mathematics major, I have the drive to solve problems. I have been tutoring for seven years and when I'm not doing it, I miss it. I enjoy helping students 'solve their problems' by teaching them how ... read more

My studies have given me practical experience working with children of different abilities and readiness. I sincerely believe it is the teacher's responsibility to adapt lessons to the student's learning style. I strive to create connections to student past lessons and keep difficult concepts in easy, relative terms that simplify information for the student to digest. I prefer teaching lessons through discovery learning and constructivist approaches, and will ask as many questions to my students as my students will to me. Personally, I am considerate, professional, and genuinely caring to each of my student's success. I have never given up on a student's abilities to learn, and I convey an attitude of perseverance to my students.
