In regards to experience, I'd taught in a middle school as a Reading Specialist, as a member of the Americorps national service program. During my term, I'd implemented a measurable reading workshop and organized two school-wide literacy events, recruiting over twenty local media personalities to guest read. I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and I have vast experience in document authorship, including both literary and technical compositions.

I possess a very eclectic and kinesthetic teaching style. I believe that children learn best when as many senses as possible are used in teaching them. When a child sees, hears, touches, smells, and sometimes tastes what they are learning, their brains are using multiple connections to hardwire whatever you are trying to teach them, therefore they will be more apt to remember than if taught by rote. I also believe that it's necessary to think about their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being while they are learning. Children need to move. They will not retain as much information if they are not given breaks in routine at least every 15 to 20 minutes. As a student at New College of Florida I studied Literature and Sociology before writing an undergraduate thesis on Outdoor Education. During research for my thesis I studied many educational theories and used them for a camping-education program proposal based on Florida educational standards. After graduating, I spent a year in South Carolina teaching outdoor education to elementary school students.
Although there are many ways to teach, I strongly believe in Experiential Education. Experiential Education tries to find ways to help the student discover an answer instead of being given an answer and makes learning hands on and relevant to the student's own life.
