I enjoy working with youth and take pride in assisting them with confidence building as well as real life applications for learning and adjusting. I realize and understand there are different learning styles and try to apply the best teaching style for the maximum benefit of the person I am assisting. My teaching pattern would be to explain the issue or subject, show the person I am assisting or tutoring how to complete it, have the person explain back to me how to complete the problem and finally to have them complete the problem alone. My goal is not only to have the youth complete the assignment but to learn how to complete the assignment alone and finally to apply it to real life application.

It is my experience that an instructor delivers more learning when a student has an interest in the subject. "Inspire rather than require," has far greater efficacy in delivering information. I tend to make it fun, interesting and encourage student participation and feedback. Reward, a basic human desire, engenders craving for learning. As each individual’s qualities are unique, I try to determine if one is a visual, auditory or tactile learner. Analogies often make good teaching aids. For example, if the subject were human circulatory systems, shining a light through a leaf reveals veins similar to our own and is more apt to draw the student into the subject. I have tutored and educated staff to raise their knowledge and understanding in an effort to help them appreciate their role and the benefit of their effort toward the goals of the overall department and organization. It has been my privilege to work with many bright, wonderful people who often didn't know "why they were doing what they were doing" or how important their role/work was to the whole.
