I did my undergraduate work at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam & my graduate work at Syracuse University. I spent one year teaching 8th grade chorus and music in the Churchville Chili Jr. High School, in Churchville NY. All children are students; they can learn. The question is how best do they learn? I have used many differing styles from rote memorization through self-paced self-education. I encourage students to see the wonder and "mystery" (there really isn't any mystery) of Math, regardless of the level, in the real world. To that aid, I try to present real world problems at levels the student can understand. For lower level students, I investigate with them the development of the linear equations involved in setting up a relationship between two factors. A higher level student would solve multiple linear equations. A height vs. time linear relationship then can become quadratic, thus involving sports as an application.

I have earned my bachelors degree in Biotechnology. I will be finishing my masters in education May 16, 2010. A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher of urban students and students who have experienced sever trauma (Hillside), I have gained a thorough understanding of the challenges faced by children today such as home environment and poverty. My teaching style is very structured and includes various modes of instruction. I try to utilize cooperative learning strategies when ever possible. Students can learn alot from each other both intellectually as well as socially.
