I have a Minnesota teaching license in PreK age 3-K, Elementary Education K-6, and Middle School Math 5-8. I have returned to college twice to add additional licenses to continue my education. I have been a licensed teacher since 2004 with a wide variety of experience including a classroom teacher, preschool teacher, after school teacher working with small groups of elementary children struggling in math and reading, teaching summer school to middle school students struggling in math, and one-on-one tutoring to elementary age children to get them caught up or back on track. I have taught art to students since 1981. High school students have been my assistants through the summer youth employment program, for 3 NYC public mural projects. I have taught as an artist-in the-schools since 1985, teaching grammar school students printmaking and mural making, both in Brooklyn NY and in the Hudson Valley. Most recently, I taught homeschooled students drawing and painting in the New Paltz area of the Hudson Valley, NY. I teach with a focus on self exploration plus knowledge of natural forms. In other words, I encourage students to express themselves in their own unique way, yet I teach all the natural forms, including fauna and flora, perspective and the human form, by drawing examples. I help students master the ability to draw what they see, encouraging composition, color, shading and personal style.
