Teaching is the business of taking a student from one place to another. I begin with an individual assessment that takes account of the student’s perception of the problem and the academic goals he/she needs to meet. Then, having determined what it is reasonable to accomplish, I work through repetitive assignments and increasingly complex examples to raise the student’s standard of satisfaction and equip him/her with the critical skills necessary to recognize where his work succeeds and where it does not.
