A Little Bit About Me...

I teach the basic concepts of acting through Stanislavski and Chekhov. I focus on character development as well as scene analysis. When analyzing a play or story, I focus on the basic concepts such as inciting incidents, major dramatic question, climax, the point of attack, resolution, the theme, and characters. I work with the student so he/she can find these elements and talk about them and expound on them. I work as fast or as slow as the student needs.
I earned my A.A. in Theatre Arts at College of Central Florida in Ocala, Florida. I then moved to Lakeland and earned my B.A. in Theatre Performance at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. Last summer I was an assistant teacher for the summer camp at the Civic Theatre in Ocala, Florida.

I earned my BA in 1989 in Texas. I moved to Florida in 1990 and realized I wanted to be a teacher. My local community college, however, did not offer any courses to help my earn a teaching certification. Then I read an article in my local newspaper three years ago. I enrolled in the Teacher Preparation Institute at the same community college and am now certified to teach. I held an in class room teaching position last year from 10/2008 - 6/2009. The Lake County School District has undergone many changes and unfortunately let go of all 1-3 year teachers. I was one of those teachers. I miss working with children. With a degree in Special Education and a Masters in Education I have learned about how children learn best. I have a Florida Teacher's License for teaching ESE (Exceptional Students Education), Spanish, Elementary Education, and other subjects. I taught in the Ocala public school system. I believe that the curriculum should be tailored to the learning style of the child and not the other way around. Learning especially reading is a slow process where small steps towards the final goal count more than big leaps which are not lasting. Students can guide a teacher towards their ability and it is our job as teachers to pickup on that and use it to the child's advantage.
